Qualification for World Games 2001 The Heilbronn World Championships is the qualifying tournament for the World Games 2001 in Japan (world games for non-Olympic sports). The best six teams qualify directly for the World Games. The German Frisbeesport Association and the WM Organizational Committee presented their proposal to the WFDF annual congress at the 1998 World Ultimate Championships in Minneapolis, Minnesota in August. The proposal was accepted unanimously by the WFDF officials and the participating countries. The aim and objective of hosting this tournament is to provide a means of showing the game of Ultimate at its best with the specific goal of encouraging growth in Germany as a whole. This goal will be attained through organization of teacher workshops with a project called "I CAN FLY" in the Heilbronn region and throughout Germany. An additional goal is to encourage the participation of Ultimate teams from the former east block and other countries entering the Ultimate community throughout the world. Here some additional facts about the WUGC 2000: featuring 70 national teams with over 1200 participants from 23 countries who will be com peting in 6 divisions to be named world champion in the team sport of Ultimate-Frisbee. tournament fields and accommodations are located together directly on the Neckar River in Heilbronn Germany. All fields are within a 1 kilometer square area. A stadium is available in this area for top games each evening and for the finals. The Tournament Location is Heilbronn, Germany - the geographical center of Europe! France is 60 km to the west, Switzerland 150 km to the south, Austria 160 km southeast and the Czech Republic 250 km to the east! Tournament date: 5. - 12.
